One Backpack, Worn by One Coconut

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

There laid an extreme extroverted Millennial, born and raised in London working in the tech industry. Too afraid to travel solo. How is that even possible?

I've always been confident talking to strangers, and though breaking the ice was tough, I just couldn't find the guts to be happy in my own company. I already sound like cheese melting in the hot sun. I've generally always traveled with friends or spouses of the past and as every boxer welcomes the taste of blood, I wanted a taste of the real backpackers life.

My entire life I have searched for answers, but this time the question was going to be answered.. no matter what.

Could I handle a long ass trip with a backpack completely ALONE? I'd never even stayed in a hostel! Could I stay in a room with strangers? What's the worst that could happen? I could just turn back once I got there.. but I'd hate to come home and have to tell my friends I was sell-out!

I just had to push myself into the deep end, so I planned a two-week trip backpacking across Central Europe. Saw seven countries, seven cities, stayed in seven hostels, met shit loads of people and had some of the best days touring and top quality nights out.

This took me well outside of my comfort zone, but was one of the best choices I've made in life. And I can tell you all that soppy shit and say that I've learned so much about myself, but believe me, I really have! If only I could find other people like me, people who confronted their fears and just thought "screw this", I'm doing this!

I don't want to be six feet in the ground or cremated knowing that I didn't have the guts to backpack, travel alone, or stay in hostels with random people. Things would be much easier if I knew of a place to talk about my experiences and hopefully convince others to take that same leap of faith.

That place is here, and we've called it

Millennial Travel Bible.
